Alexander Rappoport never hid the fact that he has a "decidedly uneven" affection for Thai cuisine. Moreover, it was with it that his restaurant story began. Rappoport's first project was Imbir — a restaurant on the border between Thai and Pan-Asian cuisine and, according to the restaurateur himself, the very first representative of Pan-Asia in Moscow. Years later, this love found a new continuation in Black Thai . The restaurant opened in 2014, and in 2021 it underwent a major relaunch and settled in the Radisson Collection Hotel, Moscow on Kutuzovsky Prospekt. During this time, Black Thai became one of the capital's most recognisable Thai projects: vibrant, festive, with contemporary Thai cuisine and its own character. Recognition also came from the historical homeland of this cuisine. Black Thai received the Thai Select certificate — a mark of the Kingdom of Thailand's international programme, which honours selected establishments around the world. At the time of the award, Alexander Rappoport's project became the only one in Russia to receive this recognition, and the certificate was personally presented to the restaurateur by the Ambassador of Thailand. Over 12 years, the address, the team, the menu and restaurant Moscow itself have changed. Black Thai has managed to live several lives alongside it, but one thing remained unchanged — the love for Thai cuisine with which the restaurant story of the Rappoport's Restaurants holding once began. On October 31, one of its chapters comes to an end: Black Thai will welcome guests for the last time. Until that day, there is still time to return for favourite dishes, gather around a large table and spend one more evening at the restaurant. Black Thai is leaving, but not for long.
