This legendary Asian drink first appeared in the second half of the 19th century, when the French brought coffee trees to Vietnam. Due to a shortage of fresh milk in the tropics, they used condensed milk – which perfectly balanced the bitterness of the coffee. Later, ice was added, and the drink became a gastronomic symbol of the country. The presentation at IndoKitaj remains as classic as possible, but there is one detail not to be missed: a pinch of Himalayan salt. It doesn't make the drink salty – it brings the flavour together, leaving a sense of a rare discovery, combining the seemingly incompatible. Right now, Vietnamese iced coffee could rival any drink for the title of best summer beverage – especially for those who choose to be happy. You can find it on the themed cart at the Depo food mall until the end of summer – just make sure you save room for dessert after the green curry.
