South Azerbaijani and Persian cuisine
A new oriental pearl in the crown of Alexander Rappoport's projects. Keenly aware of the trends of the restaurant market, Alexander Rappaport turns to the gastronomic heritage of Eastern Transcaucasia and the Middle East in his first restaurant of South Azerbaijani and Persian cuisine, Cafe Almond. If Azerbaijani cuisine is quite common in Moscow, then South Azerbaijani cuisine is much rarer, and there has never been any Persian cuisine at all, although it is extremely tasty, unusual and spicy, which fully corresponds to Moscow recipes. Almond is located in the walls, imbued with the spirit of the east, not only thanks to the detailed interior from the AR-1 bureau, into the light canvas of which, like on Persian carpets, which have become one of its main accents, curious details are woven that you want to look at: from the patterns and ornaments of carpets, they are everywhere here (even a huge elegant chandelier) — up to brutal elements like rusty iron, smoothed out by an abundance of oriental ceramics, including in the form of outlandish clay chandeliers. All together, it creates the unique comfort that the east is so famous for, but in a modern way. Its history gives the place a special charm: for many years there was a family cafe of Azerbaijani cuisine, the memory of which lives on in the name "Almonds".
